More and more tourists come to Bohinj Municipality every year. On the one hand, this brings many positive effects for the local community and broader, while on the other hand, increasing pressure causes many problems that require rational solutions and management. This includes issues connected to traffic and accessibility.
In high season (especially summer), it can be quite difficult to access Bohinj, and most popular and visited sights and parts of Bohinj cause greater pressure on traffic. Thus, we encounter bottlenecks, wrong parking, reduced traffic safety, negative impacts on the environment, space, landscape and the dissatisfaction of visitors and local population.
Various infrastructural and soft measures are used to resolve those problems.
One of the measures includes the occasional transport of passengers from remote car parks to Lake Bohinj and Blato Pasture.
In 2019, occasional transport of passengers was conducted on five routes from 22 June to 15 September.
Bohinj Municipality invested EUR 120,000 in ensuring occasional transport in 2019 that was free for all users.
For the sixth year in a row, we also ensured transport from Bohinjska Bistrica to Rudno polje and back. Hop-On Hop-Off Pokljuka transport was conducted every day from 29 June to 15 September. The bus was free of charge for all passengers.
In the entire period, 5,556 passengers were transported according to services provider data. 200 bikes were also transported.
A total of 49,948 passengers were transported on five routes including the Hop-On Hop-Off Pokljuka route.
