Bohinj Cycling Route (a shared-use path)

On Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., the grand opening of the new Bled–Bohinjska Bistrica Cycling Route (a shared-use path) will take place at the double bridge in Soteska. This is a significant achievement for safer and more sustainable mobility between the municipalities of Bled and Bohinj.

Before the ceremony, we invite everyone interested to join a symbolic bike ride, which will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Bohinj Municipality parking lot and follow the new bike path to the opening venue.

The project was jointly implemented by the Municipality of Bohinj, the Municipality of Bled, and the Infrastructure Directorate of the Republic of Slovenia. It was co-financed by the Republic of Slovenia and the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of the European Cohesion Policy Program 2021–2027.

You’re invited to join us!

ATTENTION!

Full closure of the Bohinjska Bela–Obrne road

The local road between Bohinjska Bela and Obrne is currently closed while repairs are underway. The closure covers the section running between Bohinjska Bela and the village of Obrne.

The closure is necessary to allow the works to be carried out safely. Once the repairs are complete, the temporary traffic signage will be removed and traffic will return to its usual pattern.

The closure is scheduled to remain in place until 31 August 2026.

While the closure is in effect, it will not be possible to travel directly between Bohinjska Bela and Obrne on the local road. This applies to all vehicles, including cyclists.

A signed detour is in place for all vehicles and applies in both directions.

If your journey takes you between Bohinjska Bela and Obrne, please follow the detour signs and observe the traffic signage on site. We’d also recommend setting off a little earlier than usual to allow extra time.

For the latest information on closures, diversions and road conditions, visit the website of the Traffic Information Centre.
