Traffic Regime Pokljuka – Uskovnica
To reduce motor vehicle traffic on Pokljuka, new and coordinated measures have been adopted for the forest roads on Pokljuka and Uskovnica. Traffic signs and information signs indicate the changed traffic conditions.
SUMMER SEASON
New traffic regulations have been adopted, which apply on the Srednja vas–Uskovnica forest road and on the Spodnji Goreljek–Praprotnica–Rudno polje forest road during the period between 15 June and 15 October, prohibit motor vehicle traffic, with some exceptions.
Driving IS PERMITTED for:
- the needs of forest management and wildlife management;
- cycling;
- owners, operators, or tenants of buildings and land;
- official travel for the performance of municipal law enforcement duties, as well as public forestry, cultural heritage preservation, nature conservation, health, emergency medical, and veterinary services, hunting and fishing patrol services, inspection supervision, defense, protection, and rescue operations, police duties, and the work of mountain and cave rescuers and firefighters, tasks involving direct supervision in the field and during the work of investigating judges and public prosecutors, performing agricultural work, performing beekeeping work, performing surveying work, performing geological work, performing scientific research work, discovering and exploring underground caves, the management of watercourses and torrential areas, the maintenance and construction of structures, protection, rescue, and assistance during natural and other disasters, and the performance of tasks by the Slovenian Armed Forces;
- for holders of the “Občan” parking card and for organized transportation provided by the Municipality of Bohinj and Turizem Bohinj.
Organised transport services for the 2026 season:
- Line 8: Uskovnica via Srednja vas (shuttle service upon request), daily from 1 7. to 31 8. 2026 with advance reservation,
- Line 6: Pokljuka via Bohinjska Bistrica (bus) daily between 25 6. and 13 9. 2026.

WINTER SEASON
During winter conditions, the forest road from Rudno Polje to Uskovnica is closed. One-way traffic is in effect around the Goreljek Marsh.
During the winter season, SKI BUS Pokljuka operates a shuttle service from Bohinjska Bistrica to Rudno Polje—when the schedules are available, you can find them on the “Transport” subpage.
Why a special traffic regime on Pokljuka?
On the plateau, we want to preserve a suitable habitat for sensitive animal and plant species and vulnerable ecosystems.
Regulating motor vehicle traffic is also important for the smooth management of the forest, while at the same time allowing visitors to enjoy a high-quality, nature-friendly leisure experience in the country’s only national park.
- Parking along the forest roads between Rudno Polje, Za Ribnico,
and Razpotje is not permitted (except for landowners). - Parking is permitted in the parking lot at Rudno Polje and at Lom, in front of Uskovnica.
- Motor vehicles are not permitted to drive across the Praprotnica (past
energy points) and Uskovnica mountain pastures (from Loma pred Uskovnico to the intersection of forest roads leading to the Šeh, Praprotnica, and Uskovnica mountain pastures, above the bridge over the Ribnica River)
(except for landowners).
