Traffic Regime Pokljuka – Uskovnica
To reduce motor traffic pressure on Pokljuka, new and harmonised traffic regulations have been adopted for the forest roads in the Pokljuka and Uskovnica area. Traffic signs and information boards indicate the changed traffic regime.
New traffic regimes have been adopted for the forest road Srednja vas–Uskovnica and the forest road Spodnji Goreljek–Praprotnica–Rudno polje. These apply between June 15 and October 15, during which motor vehicle traffic is prohibited, with certain exceptions.
Driving IS ALLOWED for:
- forest management and wildlife control purposes;
- cycling;
- owners, managers, or tenants of buildings and land;
- official duties related to municipal inspection services, public forestry, cultural heritage protection, nature conservation, healthcare, emergency and veterinary services, gamekeeping and fisheries surveillance, inspections, national defense, civil protection and rescue operations, police, mountain and cave rescuers, fire services, direct supervision in nature, as well as the duties of investigative judges and state prosecutors; agricultural work, beekeeping, geodetic, geological and scientific research activities, cave exploration, watercourse and torrent management, maintenance and construction of buildings, and Slovenian Armed Forces tasks;
- holders of the “Občan” parking card and organized transport provided by the Municipality of Bohinj and Bohinj Tourism.
Driving IS NOT ALLOWED for guests staying in accommodation facilities that offer overnight lodging services.
Guests can access the area via:
- mountain and hiking trails (maPZS.si),
- organized transport lines in Bohinj (promet.bohinj.si).
Organized Transport during the 2025 Season:
- Line 8: Uskovnica via Srednja vas (on-demand shuttle), daily from 1. 7. to 30. 8. 2025, with prior reservation;
- Line 6: Pokljuka via Bohinjska Bistrica (bus), daily from 25. 6. to 14. 9. 2025,
- Transport can also be arranged by the accommodation provider.
Why a special traffic regime on Pokljuka?
We want to preserve suitable habitats for sensitive species and fragile ecosystems.
The adaptation of motor traffic is also important for the smooth management of the forest, while at the same time allowing the visitor to spend quality and nature-friendly leisure time in the only national park in the country.
- Parking along forest roads between Rudno polje, Za Ribnico, and Razpotje is not allowed (except for landowners).
- Parking is allowed in the car park at Rudno Polje and in Lom before Uskovnica.
- Driving motor vehicles across the Praprotnica alpine pasture (past the energy points) and Uskovnica (from Lome before Uskovnica to the forest road junction leading to the Šeh, Praprotnica, and Uskovnica pastures above the Ribnica bridge) is not allowed (except for landowners).
