Transfers and timetables

Organised transfers

Organised transport services are seasonal bus services in Bohinj (Lines 1–8), organised by the Municipality of Bohinj and Tourism Bohinj and marked with a For Blooming Bohinj sticker. They do not include regular bus services operated by Arriva, taxi services, the panoramic boat or the Vogel cable car. Organised transport services are subject to a charge, and tickets cannot be purchased on the bus. Tickets can be purchased online using the form below. Travel on organised transport services is free with the Julian Alps: Bohinj Card and the Bohinjc ticket.

Organised transport services are NOT intended for organised groups of passengers! On Lines 4–8, any group of more than six people travelling together is considered an organised group. On Lines 1–3, any group of more than eight people travelling together is considered an organised group.

Please note: Buses are usually busiest between 9:00 and 10:30. As seating is limited, you may need to wait for the next bus. Whenever possible, we recommend travelling at a different time.

Due to the high ridership on the morning bus on Line 4 (from Bohinjska Bistrica to the Vogar–Blato intersection at 7:00 a.m. and 9:10 a.m.), we recommend that, if possible, you take Line 5, which is usually less crowded (departing from Srednja vas–Senožet at 5:30 a.m., 7:30 a.m., and 9:30 a.m.).

Regular public transport lines

Regular bus services operated by Arriva are subject to the operator’s standard fares. Tickets can be purchased on the bus, online or at TIC Bohinj in Ribčev Laz. Travel is free for holders of the Julian Alps: Bohinj Card.

Due to high demand on afternoon buses between Bohinj Ukanc, Bohinjsko jezero, Bled and Ljubljana, we recommend the following two options:

  • Take the bus from Boh. jezero to Bled and transfer in Bled for Ljubljana (Arriva) or
  • Take the organised transport service from Boh. jezero to Boh. Bistrica railway station (Line 1, For a Blooming Bohinj) and transfer to a train towards Bled or Ljubljana, with connections to all intermediate stations (Slovenian Railways, potniski.sz.si).

You can check the schedules (for regular public transit routes and organised transportation services in the Julian Alps, when available, excluding ferries and cable cars) by clicking on the national online application, the SiMO multimodal trip planner.

Bohinj is connected to Ljubljana by a regular bus service almost every hour, every day of the year. Regular bus routes also operate within Bohinj. During the summer season, additional buses run on the Bled–Bohinj–Ukanc–Bled route.

Benefits for the holders of the Julian Alps Card: Bohinj

  • Free bus service provided by Arriva on all routes in the municipality of Bohinj
  • Free rides provided by Arriva from the municipality of Bohinj to all stops along the route to Ljubljana and back (the boarding or alighting stop must be within the municipality of Bohinj)

Mobile app: Take the train

Take the train with your bike

The price of a route‑specific ticket / single journey (also valid in the case of transfers) for the transport of a bicycle or an electric bicycle is €3.

The number of bicycles a train can carry depends on the type and occupancy of the train. Groups of more than 10 passengers travelling by bicycle must book their journey at least 8 working days in advance. Find out more about bicycle transport options on Slovenian Railways.

Extra capacity in summer and delays

During the summer season (June 26–September 30), the summer schedule will go into effect on the Bohinj line.

During certain periods (especially on weekends or holidays), a significant increase in demand for bicycle transport is expected. The train has limited capacity for transporting bicycles. In the event of a large number of passengers, we reserve the right for train staff to restrict the transport of bicycles on an exceptional basis if it could affect the comfort of fellow passengers or safety during the journey.

We recommend that you plan your bicycle transport in advance and, if possible, choose dates when the train is expected to be less crowded.

More information and details are available on the "Bikes on Trains" website.

Benefits for the holders of the Julian Alps Card: Bohinj

  • Free one-way or round-trip train tickets from Bohinjska Bistrica or Most na Soči to all stops along the route to Nova Gorica and Ljubljana
